Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to consider the heterosexism and the public/private dichotomy in modern society, paying attention to the concept of "(un)subject" which Judith Butler uses to mention "non-heterosexual". "(Un) Subject" is the marked term to the "legitimate" subject, therefore his or her existence is disregarded or imaged as something that is disliked vaguely. Since the "non-heterosexual" as an "(un) subject" is not arranged in the specific position of the socioeconomic structure, she or he can hardly be the object of material exploitation directly through the category concerned. But by appearing not to be included in the socioeconomic structure, "non-heterosexual" is concerned with the socioeconomic structure paradoxically. In other words, the public/ private dichotomy in social space based on gender division of labor premises the heterosexism, and in order to be able to constitute such heterosexism ideologically, the identity of "non-heterosexual" as a "constitutive outside" is indispensable. In short, "non-heterosexual" is related to the socioeconomic structure in such a "negative" way.
