Abstract |
As education become important in our society, it must attend to broader set of concerns. At the same time, teacher education attends to more concerns. But about issues of teacher education there are lots of discrepancy. Professionalism alone is not enough forthis concerns. Today, professionalism is criticized from many standpoints, for. example, from viewpoint of cultural reproduction. There must be a social vision animating reform that emcompasses but is not limiting to the interest of teaching. We need reformulate the concept of education and from its standpoint assign a proper place to teacher education. The article is divided into three sections. In the first section I concern myself with the debate about teacher education, i.e., the criticism from the standpoint of cultual reproduction. In the second section I scrutinize the concept of education, so that, I propose the way of thinking which regard education as initiation in our cultural heritage. Thirdly, I suggest the position which consider teacher as reflective practitioner.
