I think that enlightenment is an idea of a transition period from Feudalism to Modern. It may be the idea as a presupposition of Modern. When I give an instance in Japan, it is the "Kaibutsu" ideas. In this essay, I show the "Kaibutsu" of Nobuhiro Sato in the age of Edo, which is relative to economics. He was a political economist, politician, scientist, strategist and a Shintoist (Kokugakusha), in a sense, a Japanese encyclopedist in this age. Its ideas make much of observation and recognition of Nature, so that become to be very scientific and reasonable. But on the other hand, it is relative to "Shintoism" and the consciousness of Japanese household, in its fundamental principle. Then, its enlightenment do not develop to make progress to Modern Ideas. So in this essay, I intend to show its enlightenment and its limit of "Kaibutsu" ideas, as compared with Modern Ideas.
