Abstract |
This paper on "Symbiotic Need" (human gregarious) as analysable and absolute is composed of two fundamental assumptions in psychoanalitic view. First, that the ultimate biological reservoir of energy is discharged via two major systems of activities : the social and the sexual systems. Admittedly the level of specificity on which this duality of basic drives rests, is arbitrary and its justfication is sought by regarding it to be a workable classification for the purposess of a sociological study. Secondly, in adherence to my main theme, "Symbiotic Need", I consider whether one of the two basic principles of life, the Principium sociale, has been treated by cultural man in a manner which is consistent enough to be recognized as a trend with a specific direction. It was stated that in the course of history the social principle of life has been subjected to an increasing frustration which has not been warranted by the necessary processes of differentiation and indivuation.
