Within social movements, the dominant movement customs are established through organizational and tactical movement activities, such as adherents' formal rituals and informal interaction. The common moral and ideology of social movement adherents are also shared through the irinteraction. Some, however, point out that social movement adherents occasionally show "ambivalence" about the social movement normative aspects, such as the shared moral and ideology, and the routine organizational activities. The "ambivalence" means a simultaneous acceptance and rejection of the normative aspects. Through their movement participation, adherents feel satisfaction, happiness and achievement. Simultaneously, they also feel dissatisfaction, self-doubt and disillusionment. In these situations, the contradictory feelings are expressed. In this paper, the main focus will be on situations in which participants, "ambivalence" about social movement normative aspects is expressed. For the purpose of analyzing the situations, social movement researches which focus on the participants' meaning construction of their movement participation are examined. Firstly, the background of social movement researches focusing on the participants, meaning construction is mentioned. And then, situations in which the "ambivalence" is showed are clarified.
