Abstract
In this study, we examine Three-syllable words that are taught as vocabulary in modern Chinese from the perspective of vocabulary instruction toward learners who are chiefly native speakers of Japanese. First, we will investigate how Three-syllable words are introduced and presented in textbooks and learning dictionaries. We then conduct a consideration and analysis in accordance with our research objective of overall innovation and improvement of vocabulary instruction toward learners, from the viewpoint of application of contents of learning mainly within the field of lexicology. In addition, we cite examples of specific Three-syllable Chinese words that are likely to be taught as vocabulary, determine what vocabulary information will be beneficial to learners, and describe our establishment of an effective instruction method for Three-syllable Chinese words.
