本研究は、中国東北地方おける土地改革と農村経済の関係を検討することを通じて、当該地域社会の連続性・非連続性と中国共産党政権の基層社会への浸透過程を明らかにするものである。以下では、①史料整理、②研究報告、③今後の課題の3点に分けて、2021年度の研究成果実績について説明する。

①史料整理
本研究の主要な史料は、従来の研究でほとんど利用されなかった中国東北地方の地方新聞である。これらの史料には、中国共産党の政策に加えて、個別村落に関する詳細な記事が多く掲載されており、地域に根差した視点から農村社会の状況を検討することができる。申請者は、これまで数年間にわたり、中国国家図書館や各地の地方図書館において関連地方新聞の一部を収集してきた。これらの新聞を利用するためには、まず新聞全体の状況や論調を把握する必要があり、2021年度はその整理に時間を費やした。具体的にいえば、既に収集した地方新聞の記事目録を作成し、さらに記事をテーマごとに分類したり、県や村落ごとに分類したりして、土地改革の展開や農村社会の状況などの把握に努めた。

②研究報告
2021年度は研究を進捗に合わせて、三田史学会と中国都市芸能研究会において研究報告を行った。そして、報告に対して多くの有意義なコメントを頂いた。今後はこれらをもとに学術論文の執筆に着手する予定である。

③今後の課題
2021年度は新型コロナウィルスの影響により、現地での聞き取り調査や史料収集が実現できなかった。次年度以降のフィールドワークも見込めない中、既に収集した地方新聞の整理を継続していく必要がある。そして、これらの史料を土台に分析し、その上で不足する文献史料を将来的に現地で収集することで、分析の質をさらに高めることが可能になる。したがって、次年度以降は史料整理に合わせて、分析にも力を入れながら研究を進めていきたい。
This research project examines the relationship between land reform and rural economies in Northeast China. It also attempts to clarify the continuities and discontinuities of local society and illustrate the penetration of the state (CCP) power. This short report could be divided into three sections: (1) current work, (2) research accomplishments, and (3) future directions.

(1) Current work: organizing historical documents.
The primary historical documents for this project are local newspapers from Northeastern China, which were rarely explored in the past. These historical documents, containing numerous information on villages affairs and CCP policy, allow us to study rural society from a community-based perspective. The applicant has collected relevant local newspapers at the National Library of China as well as local libraries in Northeast China for several years. As a result, the applicant is able to grasp the whole picture of land reform and simultaneously make sense of the local history of and rural society. In FY2021, the applicant spent most of his time in organizing, cataloguing and categorizing collected articles, by theme or by area.

(2) Research accomplishment
The applicant delivered research reports to the Mita Historical Society and the Japan Association for Chinese Urban Performing Arts as the research progressed. The applicant intends to prepare an academic article based on the feedbacks received from conferences.

(3) future directions
The applicant could not conduct interviews with farmers or collect historical documents in the field due to the coronavirus. With uncertain prospects for fieldwork, it will be necessary to continue organizing previously gathered local newspapers. Further analysis based on these unique historical materials, combined with the local documents I expected to find in the following fieldwork, will significantly improve our understanding of rural society and modern China. For these reasons, I would want to continue our research in Northeast China and make the most effort in categorizing collected data and started analyzing them.
