以下に挙げる項目を、各分野に精通した共同研究メンバー各人が分担して研究を行った。
［イスラーム基礎研究］
①ハラールとハラーム及び関連する諸概念について、また②マイノリティとしてのムスリムの宗教実践について、啓示を含めた文献調査による整理、考察。
［イスラーム地域研究］
①日本在住ムスリムのネットワーク調査、彼らの課題抽出。日本人ムスリムと外国人ムスリム双方を対象に。今年度は、主に、11月に実施した全国ムスリムミーティングの準備段階、およびミーティングの際に対象者からの情報収集を実施した。②外国人ムスリム観光客の実態調査。③「ハラール」対応も含め、日本の観光業、レストラン業における受け入れ態勢の調査。主に神奈川と東京の店舗に関する調査。

本研究は3年計画で実施する予定だが、1年目にあたる2018年は、上記の各項目に関し、各研究メンバーが個別に調査を進めつつ、いくつかの場を設けて、情報収集、情報共有、成果発表を実施した。なお、本研究活動はSFC研究所に設置されたイスラーム研究・ラボの活動と連動している。
具体的には、日本在住のムスリム留学生に研究成果の発表の場を提供するシンポジウム（6月30日）、神奈川県内の観光関連事業者対象のムスリムおもてなし研修会（9月27日）、日本在住のムスリムが生活上の課題や工夫を共有する第5回ムスリムミーティング（11月10日）、などを実施、これらの活動の中で、調査成果を発表し、また活動を通じて収集した情報や知見を研究データとして蓄積した。またSFCのORF（11月22日、23日）では、本研究のポスター発表および、pitch（口頭発表）の機会を得て代表の野中が「日本発！イスラーム教徒への情報提供型『おもてなし』」をテーマに発表した。
Each of the joint research members who are familiar with each field conducted study on the topics listed below.
[Basic research in Islam]
Examine the literature researches about 1) the Halal and Haram and related concepts, and 2) the religious practices of Muslims as minorities.
[Islam area study]
1) Survey on Japanese and foreign Muslims living in Japan and their network, and to find their challenges. We held the Muslim meeting in November 2018 and gathered the information from the participants there. 2) Survey on foreign Muslim tourists. 3) Survey on restaurants and hotels which try to offer their services to muslim tourists in Kanagawa and Tokyo area.

This research is planned to be carried out in a three-year plan, but in the first year 2018, each research member conducted research individually on each of the above issues. We also had several opportunities to share the findings and to conduct the presentation about research results. This research activity is linked to the activities of the Laboratory of Islamic studies at Keio Research Institute at SFC. Specifically, the following are some events we held related to our research this year. The symposium (June 30), which provides a chance to present research results to Muslim foreign students living in Japan, the Muslim Hospitality Workshop for tourism-related businesses in Kanagawa Prefecture (Sept. 27), and The 5th Muslim Meeting (November 10th) where Muslims living in Japan share life-related issues and ideas, etc., In these events, each member presented the results of the survey, and at the same time we also collected the information and findings. In addition, at SFC ORF (November 22 and 23) we gave a poster presentation and the pitch (oral presentation).
