2017年に出版した拙著『ウィトゲンシュタインの教育学：後期哲学と「言語の限界」』（慶應義塾大学出版会）は、考察の大部分が教育の前段階としての訓練に終始し、伝統の伝達と再創造や自律性といった教育の根本問題を十分に扱えていないという問題を抱えていた。2018年6月に公刊された講演要旨「最晩期ウィトゲンシュタインの教育学――「訓練」から「教育」へ」では、後期哲学と最晩期哲学の対比を通じて、この問題を解決するための方向性を提示した。訓練によって可能となる単純な言語ゲームではなく、「ぴったりの語」、語の「二次的意味」、音楽や詩の理解といった複雑な言語使用に着目する最晩期ウィトゲンシュタインの哲学には、教育の根本問題を言語論的な観点から論じるための重要な示唆が含まれている。さらに2018年9月に教育思想史学会大会にて行ったシンポジウム報告「私・われわれ・言語：最晩期ウィトゲンシュタインの「二次的意味」をめぐって」では、個別具体的な経験と言語との関連性をめぐる最晩期ウィトゲンシュタインの哲学をてがかりに、私とわれわれがともに言語の新たな表情を垣間見ることによって変容するという、教育の重要な一側面の解明を試みた。このシンポジウム報告は論文として、2019年9月に『近代教育フォーラム』誌に掲載される予定である。
One of my study results was published in July 2017 as Wittgenstein on Education: His Later Philosophy and the 'Limits of Language' (Tokyo: Keio University Press). The main problem of this book is its insufficient treatment on the matters of education relative to those of training. The central issues of education, such as re-creation of traditions or autonomy, remain not fully discussed. In a summary of lecture on 'The Latest Wittgenstein on Education: From 'Training' to 'Education'', which was published in June 2018, I offered a direction to address this problem through a comparison of the later and the latest philosophy of Wittgenstein. In his latest philosophy, Wittgenstein brings up subjects as 'mot juste', 'secondary meaning' and 'understanding music and poem'. In these topics which are beyond the limits of his so-called 'use theory of meaning', there would be significant suggestions for considering educational process with its full complexity and seeing the concept of education itself anew from a linguistic point of view. In a conference presentation under the title of 'I, We, and Language: A Consideration on the Latest Wittgenstein's 'Secondary Meaning'', which I made at the Wittgenstein symposium held by Japanese History of Educational Thought Society in September 2018, I gave a detailed account on the possibility of changing our view of education through Wittgenstein's philosophy of language. A paper based on this presentation will be published in September 2019.
