ソシオセマンティクスという新しい学問の創業について、私と田中茂範氏（環境情報学部教授）が協働で進めてきた「人々にとっての意味とその社会的編成を取り扱う言語コミュニケーション論」の開発を軸にして記す。新しいパラダイムとコンピュータによるテクスト分析システムによって人々の意味世界に関する研究が可能になってきた。ネットワークの社会への浸透とソシオセマンティクスの発展で、社会研究は人々の意味世界に踏み込んだ新しい地平を拓いていくだろう。 Prof. Tanaka and I have engaged in a study of human communication dynamics for the last ten years. On the process of our collaborative work, we've proposed a theory of sense-making ... a new paradigm of human communication. This theoretical model has now applied to the development of socio-semantics of which the goal is to reveal and identify the folk meanings of social concepts (phenomena). In our socio-semantics, the target of analysis is text. Texts relating to a social concept are to be analyzed with the use of a computer. Some case studies have been already carried out, producing insightful results.
