まず、AIが著作権法制にもたらす影響についての分析に焦点を当てた。問題は、大きく2つ存在する。1つ目の問題は、AIが生み出すコンテンツが著作物に該当するかという問題である。従来、著作物は人間が創作するものであることが当然の前提であったが、もし、進歩したAIが小説や音楽のようなコンテンツを生み出した場合、それは著作物として保護されるのだろうか。2つ目の問題は、そのようにしてAIによって生み出されたコンテンツが既存の他人の著作物と類似している場合に著作権侵害に該当するかという問題である。学会においても、これらの問題に対する研究はまだ緒に就いたばかりである。その中、先駆的な研究ができたと考えている。研究成果は、著作権に関する専門家を対象とした講演会における私の発言に活かされた。また、講演会の記録は既に公刊されている。さらに、AIが学習を行う上で必要な学習用データや、AIが学習した結果が、不正競争防止法によって、営業秘密や限定提供データとして保護されるかという問題も検討した。これらについても、先駆的な研究ができたと考える。その成果は、既に法律雑誌に論文として掲載されている。
次に、企業内法務が現在抱える課題を把握するため、企業内法務関係者と意見交換を行い、それを踏まえて、法務部門の望ましい戦略についての検討を行った。また、法務業務にAIやデジタル技術活用するシステムについての展示会にも参加して、情報収集に努めた。さらに、企業内法務の現状と望まれる役割について論じた座談会の記録が公刊された。また、企業内法務とそこで働く人々の現状について、様々な統計数字から分析を行った。この結果も、既に法律雑誌に論文として掲載されている。
私は、計画を踏まえた進捗が達成できたと考えている。
First, I focused on the analysis of impacts of AI on copyright law. There are two important issues. The first issue is whether the content created by AI is a copyrighted work. The second issue is whether the AI-produced content similar to existing copyrighted works constitutes copyright infringement. The results of my analysis were already published. In addition, I  examined whether the training data necessary for AI to machine-learn and the results of AI machine-learning can be protected by the Unfair Competition Prevention Act. The results were also published in a legal journal.

Next, I exchanged views with corporate legal personnel to understand the current issues relating to corporate legal affairs. I also collected information as to legal-tech at an exhibition of various systems that utilize AI and digital technologies for legal personnel. In addition, a record of a roundtable discussion, hosted by me, on the current state of corporate legal affairs  and the desired role was published. I also analyzed, based on statistical figures, the current situation of the people working at corporate legal department and wrote the article, which was published in a legal journal.
