プロイセンの作家H・v・クライストの日刊紙『ベルリン夕刊新聞』(1810/11)における「公共圏」構想の意義を, 歴史的・現在的な視点から明らかにした。虚実入り混じるその報道は, 理性的な熟議と世論形成をめざす啓蒙主義的な言論活動からは明らかに逸脱しているが, 同時にそこではしばしば報道内容の真実性が強調され, この新聞を多様な意見のためのフォーラムとして供する編集者の身ぶりも確認できる。『ベルリン夕刊新聞』は, 18世紀の「市民的公共圏」の理念に対して両義的な位置に立つが, 規範の形成と攪乱というその傾向がまさしく近代の新聞の二つの側面を体現している点で, 近代ジャーナリズムの範例的な事例をなしている。
The purpose of this research was to evaluate the daily newspaper "Evening Paper of Berlin (Berliner Abendblaetter)" (1810/11) by the Prussian writer and journalist, Heinrich von Kleist, in the historical and actual contexts of the public sphere. The news in the paper contains both truths and lies, which is clearly in conflict with the principles of the enlightened journalism that aims for a reasonable deliberation and for making a public opinion. On the other hand, it is also insisted by the publisher that what he reports is always "true" and indicated that his paper serves the public as a forum for various opinions. The "Evening Paper of Berlin" is very ambivalent about the idea of the "bourgeois public sphere" in the sense of Juergen Habermas, but at the same time it can be also a representative example of the modern journalism because its opposite tendencies to construct and destruct a normative order are corresponding to the two roles attributed to the modern newspapers.
