| Abstract |
During the early Showa period, private elementary schools faced difficulties in managing education. This paper aims to consider the meaning of private elementary schools during that period, taking the Keio Yochisya Elementary School as an example.
In this period, Keio Gijyuku attempted to reorganize educational programs by revising agreements. Partially due to the“ SOKOKU" Affair that occurred then, Gijyuku began controlling Youchisya's school jobs.
Due to the integration of Keio Gijyuku and Youchisya, it was beneficial for Youchisya that they could appeal for conducting examinations in favor of an affiliated school. However, Yochiysa had been accepting almost every order of Gijyuku as the government and society had begun increasing pressure on the establishment of higher-education institutions.
