| Abstract |
Let T be a mapping from a closed convex subset D of a Banach space into a compact subset of D which satisfies
||Tx-Ty||≦1/2a(||x-Tx|| + ||y-Ty||)+b||x-y|| for any x, y ∊ D,
where a≧0. b≧0 and a+b≦1, then the sequence {xn} defined by xn＋1=1/2 (xn+ Txn) converges to a fixed point of T for any x1 ∊ D. As a matter of fact, a theorem which includes this result is proved.
