When a short circuit occurs somewhere in a overhead 'transmission line, heavy current flows through the conductor. This current produces mutual attraction or repulsion between the conductors, due to electromagnetic force, and causes swinging motion of the conductor. If this swinging be large, it may cause the second short circuit between conductors. The Author studied this phenomenon theoretically. The present first report is a preliminary calculation, and treat only the statical problem, that is, the equilibrium of conductors under the influence of short circuit current.
