Abstract |
Three strains were tested for penicillin-production. Q176 (Wisconsin) which was found to be exceptionally good penicillin-producer in submerged culture in America and offered to our country owing to the good offices of America, produced best yield also in surface culuture, when grown in a synthetic medium. The good effects of phenylacetic acid on penicillin-production and yield at every stages in the extraction by carbon process were also examined.
