This research project involved the translation, design, development, and implementation of contemplative learning programs into the Japanese context, with a focus on Social Emotional Ethical Learning - a holistic program developed at Emory University's Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion Based Ethics. 
The project leader, Yuki Imoto has been leading a team of researchers, educators, artists, clinicians and therapists in bringing together this program to schools and communities nationwide. The project culminated in an International Symposium - titled "Educating the Heart and Mind in the Age of AI - Contemplative Education and Compassion Based Ethics in Japan" held at Mita Campus in March 2024. The symposium was followed by a workshop for teachers held at Hiyoshi Campus, facilitated by the developers of the SEE Learning program from Emory University. 
One question arising from this implementation project is how such contemplative learning programs can be skillfully integrated into the socio-cultural context. We have been exploring how theatrework, musical performance, and traditional Japanese arts can be combined to cultivate Social Emotional and Ethical Learning in innovative ways.
