『百科全書』に散在する典拠データへの関心が私たちの研究の出発点であった。この大事典は16世紀から18世紀にかけての複雑なテクスト間の照合関係の歴史に与しており, コピー・ペーストこそが項目著者の常套手段だった。私たちが開発するデータベースは『百科全書』に含まれる無数の典拠情報を検討する「典拠研究」を実践することで, この歴史に迫ろうとするものである。抽出するデータは「著者」と「タイトル」に関するもので, それらの多くが不完全な形で表記されているため, 常時「正規化」という厄介な作業を強いられる。
The starting point for our study was curiosity for many bibliographical references in the Encyclopedie. The text of the french dictionary is part of a complex intertexual history from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries. Copy and paste are frequently used by authors in their contributions and our database is specially designed to provide access to this intertexual history by activating a "source criticism" devoted to the study of numerous references contained in the text of the Encyclopedie. The bibliographical metadata that we extract from the text of the Encyclopedie is related to "titles" and "authors". Many of them are always present in an imperfect way, abbreviated or omitted, so a cumbersome task of restoring the whole notation by "normalization" is absolutely required.
