Abstract 
神経疾患の治療や予防、或いは将来的な神経系の再生医療において、脳代謝の制御は重要な課題となる。昨今、脳の発生や再生、神経疾患の病態において、ケトン体が脳代謝の要として機能し、神経保護的に作用していることが示唆されている。他方、アストロサイトはケトン体代謝関連酵素を高率に発現し、in vitroにおいてケトン体を生合成することが示されている。本研究は主にin vivoにおけるケトン体生合成を軸とした、脳総体におけるアストロサイトの機能的意義の解明を通じてその医学的展開を目指すものである。本研究において、アストロサイトによるケトン体生合成をin vivoで評価する基盤となるモデルマウスを作出するべく、アストロサイト特異的にケトン体生合成を停止させたconditional KOマウス(conditional mitochondrial HMG-CoA synthase (HMGCS2) KOマウス)を作製した。現在同マウスの解析を進めており、アストロサイトの機能的意義の解明を進めている。
