本研究では、日本における異文化間教育と言語教育において、文化的差異に関するクリティカルリテラシーを促すために「教育者はどのような理論のもとにどのような実践方法で、学習者の文化的差異の知を活性化できるか」という問いを追究した。
文化は人種等の概念と結びついて社会的・政治的・言説的に構築され、文化的差異とは特定の集団を区別・排除・特別扱いするために都合よく使用される現象/要因として捉えられ、文化的差異に関するクリティカルリテラシーが必要とされる。
本研究の成果は、日本の大学教育現場に還元できるローカル性と具体性をもった文化的差異に関する理論の検討と、実践の展開を同時に推し進めて提示したことである。
This study investigates how educators in intercultural and language education in Japan can activate learners' understanding of cultural differences by exploring the theories and practical methods they can use to promote critical literacy regarding cultural differences.
Culture is socially, politically, and discursively constructed in connection with concepts such as race. Cultural differences are often viewed as phenomena or factors conveniently used to distinguish, exclude, or treat certain groups especially, thereby necessitating critical literacy about cultural differences.
The outcomes of this study present an examination of theories on cultural　differences that have local relevance and specificity to the Japanese university educational context, while simultaneously advancing practical applications.
