Abstract |
We demonstrate the experiment on the Lorentz force in physics, which is proposed in Hiyoshi Review in Natural Science, Keio university, No.51, 9-21 (2012). The experiment is designed to be done with familiar swing and magnet, and to lead experimenters with little education of physics such as undergraduate students in humanities and social sciences to understanding natural science from a fundamental perspective. In this paper, we show materials of the experiment and explain a method of making experimental equipment in detail with many photos and figures. A step-bystep procedure of the experiment is shown with example results. Some technical points are improved, and the Lorentz force can be studied at the quantitative level. We also propose some ideas avoiding extra difficulties in mathematics, which would be useful to make experimenters who are bad at math concentrate on physical phenomena of the Lorentz force.
