Abstract
We have developed a scanning laser microscope system that canmeasure the spatial inhomogeneity of the refractive index, using the laser beamrefracted by the sample. Using this microscope, we can observe almosttransparent samples, such as live cells, without any use of dyes. Furthermore, wehave visualized the Brownian motion of cell structures by detecting the randomfluctuation in the photoelectric current. This allows us to understand the rigidityof cell structures and the mobility within.
