This article is designed to examine some issues on the purge of Jang Song Thaek by carefully dealing with (1) what kinds of the person Jang Song Thaek was, (2) what kinds of background and what kinds of developments existed behind Jang's purge, and (3) what kinds of influence the incident would bring about.
