Abstract |
In recent years, marketers have been paying increasing attention to the importance of the package effect onconsumers' decision-making process. The present study analyzes the visual effect of package designs, especially the one that appeals the "newness" of the label or package itself, by utilizing both questionnairesurveys and eye-tracking experiments. The results revealed significant effects of new visual elements, such as insertion of a "New Label" or "New Package" signs, on purchase intention for both factitious and actualdesigns. The results suggest that Japanese consumers are sensitive to the "new" visual designs.
