| Abstract |
本稿では，経営破綻した中小自転車製造業者の事例を手がかりに，なぜ，どのように，企業に慣性がもたらされるか，また，それがいかに企業のイノベーション創出に影響を及ぼすか，について考察する。
理論的考察とケース分析の結果，慣性の源泉として，①高い「安泰度の主観確率」（危機意識の欠如）の下での効率効果，②ルーティンの休止機能（企業活動のルーティン化に伴う変革への組織的抵抗），③局地的学習（経路依存性に由来する学習の限界），④誤ったコミットメントによるロック・イン効果―を指摘し，過去に大きな成功をもたらしたイノベーションも，慣性が働けば，環境への不適応をもたらす可能性があることを明らかにした。
