| Abstract |
「公域」と「都市エリート」概念はイングランドの「長い18世紀社会」を理解する上で有効である。本稿では18世紀のキングス・リンの経験を参考に両概念について議論した後,キングス・リンの都市エリートについて実際に検討する。都市化の表舞台にあった長い18世紀におけるイングランドの地方都市は大きな変化を遂げていた。イングランド都市ルネサンス期とも呼ばれるこの時期の特徴として,とりわけボランタリー・アソシエーションによる活動や文化的生活の充実ぶりが挙げられる。このような都市の成長にともない公域は変化し,その機能も拡大
