本稿では, 1970年代後半から80年代半ばに(西)ドイツの歴史学において議論された問題, 「歴史的社会科学」か「社会史の文化論的転回」かという議論に焦点を当てる。歴史的社会科学とそのパラダイムに対抗した「日常史」・「歴史人類学的社会史」における歴史研究の方法と観点, 問題設定や研究対象に関する議論を追い, この「社会史の文化論的転回」への歴史研究の展開過程を解明する。欧米の歴史学との比較において(西)ドイツ歴史学の特徴を浮き彫りにする。
This study focuses on a problem discussed from the mid-1970s to the 1980s in West Germany : the controversy over ,,historical social science" or ,,cultural turn in social history." This study follows discussions regarding approaches, aspects, question setting, and subjects of historical studies in ,,everyday history" (Alltagsgeschichte) and ,,anthropological social history" (Anthropologische Sozialgeschichte) as opposed to historical social science and its paradigm. Further, it investigates the process of how the ,,cultural turn in social history" evolved. In addition, this study compares (West) German historiography with traditional and social science historiography, in the process clarifying its characteristics.
