20世紀に入ると, 世界の歴史的な変化に対応して, 伝統的な「歴史主義的」歴史学に対抗して「社会史」的な歴史学が登場し, その際, フランスの「アナール学派」が先駆的な位置を占めた。戦後ドイツ歴史学も遅ればせながら社会史的研究の重要性が指摘され, 1960年代後半以降になって学問的潮流として定着することとなったが, 歴史学方法論上の議論が展開されてのことであった。本稿ではこの議論の経過を詳細に追跡し, アナール学派の研究方法がドイツ歴史学界ではどのように議論され, ドイツの社会史的な歴史学の成立にどのように関連したのかを明らかにする。
Entering the 20th century, in response to the historical changes in the world, against the traditional "historicist" historical science, a "social history" historical science emerged, where the French Annales School occupied a pioneering position. 
In postwar German historical science as well, although delayed, the importance of social history research was identified, and although it has established itself as an academic trend
since the late 1960s, it was a development resulting from a historical science methodology debate. 
This study comprehensively tracks the sequence of events in this debate, clarifying how the research methodology of the Annales School was debated in German’s world of historical sciences and how it related to the establishment of Germany's social history historical science.
