本稿は経済学会会長講演の要旨をあらたに書き下ろしたものである。経済学会会員として40年を振り返り, 修士課程を終えてアメリカに留学し, 労使関係の研究で学位を取って帰国, その後, 日本経済が石油危機を克服し, 日本の自動車産業など戦略産業がグローバルに展開した時代に, 日本経済の強さの秘密を総合的に研究し, ヒューマンウェアの経済学を唱えた。また細川, 橋本, 小渕政権にかかわって政策活動を深め, とくに小泉政権では内閣府特命顧問として経済活性化戦略の具体化に注力した。これらの経験を通じ, 経済学の実践について多くを学ぶことができた。
This recent paper summarizes a lecture given during my tenure as the president of the Japanese Economic Association.
Looking back on my 40 years as a member of the Japanese Economic Association, I recall after finishing my master's course I went to the United States where I acquired my Ph.D. in labor management relations. Upon returning to Japan, in an era when the Japanese economy conquered the oil crisis and the Japanese automobile industry and other strategic industries expanded their global reach, I comprehensively investigated the secrets of the Japanese economy and advocated the Economics of HumanWare.
In addition, I was involved with the Hosokawa, Hashimoto, and Keizo Obuchi Administrations, deepening their policy activities, particularly focusing on the implementation of the economic revitalization strategy of the Koizumi administration serving as a special advisor to the Cabinet Office.
Through these experiences, I acquired significant knowledge regarding the practice of economics.
