The purpose of the article is to examine the associations between the evidence of behavioral genetic studies on self-esteem and the activity of mental health in school education. From the evidence of behavioral genetic studies, self-esteem was significantly explained by genetic and nonshared environmental effects, but not significantly influencing shared environmental effects. A few studies of self-esteem using longitudinal behavior-al genetic design also reported that self-esteem stability was significantly influenced by genetic and nonshared environ-mental effects, whereas self-esteem change was significantly caused by nonshared environmental effects, but not significantly influencing genetic effects. On the other hand, in the activity of mental health school education, it is important to effectively intervene in the problems of bad mental health such as low self-esteem. In order to improve low self-esteem, according to the evidence of behavioral genetic studies that nonshared environmental factors influence self-esteem change low self-esteem, we need to explore the concrete aspects of nonshared environmental influences on self-esteem change.
