Ivan Illich's concept "deschooling society" is not "freeschooling society". He argues that not only education but society as whole needs 'deschooling' because not only education but social reality itself has schooled. In his view, schooled society is characterized by 'modernized poverty'. Modernized poverty is a world-wide phenomenon produced by professionalism, combines the lack of power over circumstances with a loss of personal potency. So illich's criticism of schooled society targets professional power and 'the age of disabiling professions'. School, by its very nature, reproduces 'the institutionalization of values' and 'habitus' in the reality of modern society. Habitus is the institutionalized disposition which produces the institutionalized reality. If socialization into the institutional world and subjectification through which human beings are made subjects have been effective, coercive power can conceal itself. Most of the time, conduct will occur 'spontaneously' within the institutional set channels. Individuals are subsumed under institutions substantialy, and with their needs they are subordinated to professionals automatically.
