1. Perceptual mechanism and structure of language Pattern is a product of our abstraction to array given data from a certain point of view. That comes from two basic characteristics of our perceptual mechanism: a) we cannot scan, b) we cannot discriminate anything without ignoring. 2. Pattern and redundancy Where redundancy exists, a pattern appears. Owing to it, we can grasp the whole pattern through perceiving its portion. There are two sources of redundancy : context and statistical homogeneity. 3. Structure of pattern Let R be a relation representing an array of data, γ a statistical parameter. Then we could express a pattern as tolerance space (R, γ). 4. Pattern, particulars, universals Pattern expresses universals in referring particulars and we always evolve the meaning of the pattern.
