| Abstract |
Leopold v. Kanke (1795-1888)の永い一生中には、記念すべき年も少くなかったであらうと思はれるが、今より丁度百年前、即ち一八三六年もその中に數へ入れられる年の一つであらう。何となれば彼の正式に伯林大學の正教授に就職したのが、實に是の年であったからである。しかし彼が三二年以来、その編輯に從事せるHistorisch-politische Zeitschariftを廢刊するの止むなきに至つたのもこの年であり、その傑作羅馬法皇史を完成して、益々その名筆をたかめたのもこの年であり、その父を亡ひ、次いで十旬を經ずして、その母の喪に服するに至つたのも亦この年であった。この機に三六年は彼にとつては所謂悲喜交々到れる年としてその記憶に銘ぜられたことであつたらうと思はれる。百年前のこの年を機會に彼れを囘想して。
