During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was much discussion that measures of infectious diseases influence human relationships. For example, over the issue of restrictions on outings (e.g., "Stay Home"), someone mentioned that it leads to the separation of human relationships. Meanwhile, another person found it strengthened members' relationships because of the increased frequency of face-to-face meetings between family members at "Stay Home," solidarity buildings in an emergency like disaster utopia, etc. This paper, based on an interview survey, considers the mechanism by which people experience a change in their human relationships. We discuss the following three perspectives, which describe people's "separation" and "connection"; the transformation of practice on time-space of life (Giddens), one person's decision (e.g., no mask) operating as another person's (in this case, infection's) risk (Luhmann) and the attitude of risk-based on actor's value (Lash). The interviews were conducted from June to September 2021 and included seven participants. From each of these perspectives, we analyzed the transition of seven participants ' human relationships. As a result of the analysis, we reveal that to express their 'separation' and 'connection,' in addition to the above three perspectives, the notion of empathy is needed. This notion and the above perspectives complement each other. This result indicates that the experience in a particular situation of the Corona disaster can be included in a more abstract theoretical framework. That is, there is a possible connection between the argument of helping each other through empathy and the social theory of risk.
