| 抄録 |
The study examines cultural relations between Fussa City and the Yokota Air Force Base. Establishing a U.S. military base has cultural implications for the local communities in which the base is located. The Yokota Air Force Base was built in 1945 and located in Fussa City, Tokyo. As a result, the local and cultural groups were influenced by the Yokota Base. The study examines these groups and their cultural activities, drawing on various resources, such as magazine articles, newspapers, and local materials. Result reveals that community members participated in free cultural activities and formed self-contained groups due to their distance from local communities and because of the local economy in Fussa. Moreover, cultural activities and Japanese beliefs were consciously and unconsciously influenced by American soldiers and the military base during the 1970s.
