【目的】大学教育改革のなかで，大学図書館は教育への関与が求められるようになった。本研究の目的は，学生生活の送り方によって大学図書館の利用パターンに変化が現れるのかを明らかにすること，ならびに学生生活，大学図書館利用，学習成果の3者の関係を明らかにすることである。
【方法】調査方法は，インターネットを利用した質問紙調査とした。調査対象は，都市圏 (東京都，神奈川県，埼玉県，千葉県，愛知県，大阪府，京都府，兵庫県)に所在する大学へ通う学士課程の学生 (通信教育，留学生，社会人経験者は除く)とした。マクロミルのモニター会員を利用し，質問票の配布と回収はマクロミルへ委託した。目標サンプル数を400とし，2016年7月19日に質問票を配布し，翌日の7月20日に目標サンプル数に達したため調査を終了した。有効回答数は412であった。
【結果】学生生活のなかで費やしている活動時間から学生生活を類型化し，5つの学生生活タイプを見いだした。学生生活において学習や読書を重視するタイプ1, 交友を重視するタイプ2, 電子メディアツールを多用するタイプ3, 活動的な側面が見いだせないタイプ4, いずれの活動も平均に近いタイプ5, 以上の5つである。合わせて大学図書館の利用パターンを類型化したところ，2つの利用パターンが明らかになった。図書館資料の利用を主とする従来からある利用方法，ならびに友人との交流や休息場所としての大学図書館の利用である。それぞれの学生生活タイプの大学図書館利用パターンを分析したところ，学生生活の送り方に呼応するように，それぞれのタイプが異なる大学図書館の利用パターンを有していることが明らかになった。また，図書館の利用頻度が同程度であっても獲得した学習成果は異なることが明らかになった。
Purpose: As part of wider reforms in university education, university libraries are now expected to have greater involvement in the education of students. This study examines the relationship between university library usage patterns and the ways students live their daily lives; exploring links between student lifestyles, university library usage, and learning outcomes.
Method: A questionnaire-based survey was conducted via the Internet. The survey subjects were undergraduate students (excluding correspondence students, foreign students, and students attending university after experience in the workplace, etc.) who were attending university in an urban area (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Aichi, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hyogo prefectures). Macromill, Inc. was commissioned to distribute and collect the questionnaire form using monitors registered with the company. The target sample was 400 students. The questionnaire forms were distributed on July 19, 2016, and target numbers had been achieved by the next day, July 20. There were 412 valid responses.
Results: Student lifestyles were classified according to how much time they spent performing various activities. Five student lifestyle types and two university library usage patterns were identified. Analysis of the relationship between student lifestyle types and library usage patterns indicated that each lifestyle type was related to a particular pattern of library usage, thus confirming our hypothesis. It was further found that students' learning outcomes differed, even when their frequency of library usage remained the same.
