| Abstract |
There are two types of agglomeration, localization and urbanization, which generate different effects on the growth of each region-industry: Previous studies indicated that their influence on each region-industry varies according to their location and characteristics; this resembles the production cycle. We employed the methodology used in the previous studies to analyze the growth of the manufacturing industries in East Asian countries that include some aspect of agglomeration. The evidence indicated that localization has a negative effect on industries in every region. Urbanization generally has a positive effect, although the effect varies in each region according to the
development level.
