| 抄録 |
A model of endogenous growth is considered where demand plays a crucial role in determining the rate of technical progress and growth. We show that the size of the middle class is extremely important in determining the rate of growth and the latter is zero unless the economy has a sufficiently large middle class. The existence of long run positive growth is also shown to be dependent upon the initial conditions.
