本資金による事業の目的は、ジャン・ポーランが提示したレトリックとテロルという言葉の不確実さをめぐる問題を補助線としつつ、ジロドゥ、サルトル、ブランショという三人の作家に焦点を当て、第二次世界大戦前後のフランス転換期における文学観や言語観について考察を深めることにあった。その具体的な成果は、日本フランス語フランス文学会主催、（公財）日仏会館共催で行われた国際シンポジウム「レトリックとテロル：ジロドゥ／サルトル／ブランショ」の開催（2023年10月14日・15日、於日仏会館）である。研究代表者および研究分担者は、立教大学の澤田直教授、本学文学部ヴァンサン・ブランクール訪問教授（招聘）、東京大学の郷原佳似教授とともに、シンポジウムの実行委員として計画段階からその準備と運営に携わった。フランスから、アンドレ・ジョブ（グランゼコール準備学級名誉教師）、ジル・フィリップ（ローザンヌ大学教授）、クリストフ・ビダン（ピカルディー大学教授）というジロドゥ、サルトル、ブランショそれぞれの専門家を各1名招聘し、国内から9名の発表者を集めて開催されたシンポジウムでは、多様な視点から活発な議論が展開された。研究代表者の築山和也は発表において、モーリス・ブランショの文学時評における19世紀の詩人ロートレアモンの位置づけに着目し、シュルレアリストによるロートレアモン読解と対比しつつ、そこに新しい小説観の創出が認められることを示した。研究分担者である市川崇は出発点としてブランショがテロルという語を両義的に用いていることを指摘し、同時代の思想家との接点を検証しながら、ブランショの考える「言葉」とは言語化不可能なものを担う逆説的言語であるとする仮説を提示した。シンポジウムの報告論文集（本資金の全額をその出版のために支出した）は2024年3月に水声社から刊行され、日仏会館の叢書「日仏会館ライブラリー」に採録された。論文集のフランス語版も計画中である。
The aim of the project funded by this grant was to examine in greater depth the literary and linguistic perspectives during the French transition period before and after the Second World War, focusing on the three writers Giraudoux, Sartre and Blanchot, using as subsidiary lines the question of rhetoric and terror linked to the uncertainty of language as presented by Jean Paulhan. The specific result of the project is the organization of the international colloquium "Rhetoric and terror: Giraudoux/Sartre/Blanchot", sponsored by the Association japonaise de langue et littérature françaises and co-sponsored by the Maison franco-japonaise (14 and 15 October 2023, at the Maison franco-japonaise). The principal researcher and co-researcher, as well as Professor Nao Sawada of Rikkyo University, Visiting Professor Vincent Blancourt of Keio University, and Professor Kai Gohara of the University of Tokyo, have been involved in the preparation and organization of the symposium from the planning stage as members of its committee. The symposium included a group of French specialists in Giraudoux, Sartre, and Blanchot - André Job (honorary professor at the classes prépas aux Grandes Écoles), Gilles Philippe (professor at the University of Lausanne), Christophe Bident (professor at the University of Picardy) - and nine Japanese speakers. There were lively discussions during the symposium from a variety of viewpoints. In his presentation, Tsukiyama focused on the position of the nineteenth-century poet Lautréamont in Maurice Blanchot's literary journals, comparing it with the reading of Lautreamont by the Surrealists, and demonstrating that a new vision of the novel was developed at this time. Ichikawa started by examining Blanchot's use of the term 'terror' in both senses and then, while reviewing points of contact with modern thinkers, proposed the hypothesis that Blanchot's concept of language is a paradoxical language that holds the inexpressible. The colloquium's proceedings - published by Suiseisha in March 2024 - were accepted by the Maison Franco-Japanese to be included in its book series. A French version is also planned.
