「言語形式が表す意味は十分に確定されていない」という言語の「確定不全性」は，単語のレベルから文法カテゴリーにいたるまで言語現象において広く確認される。言語の発信側は「確定不全の形式」を用いながら発信し，受信者はこの確定不全な言語形式をなんらかの手段を用いて解釈していく。言語記号が具体的解釈を持つにいたるには様々な要因があるが，その要因の一つが言語の意味統語構造である。これは意味の決定は漠然とした文脈理解ではなく，文法構造がその際の決定的な要因となっているという主張である。本研究は，その対象言語をドイツ語とし，日本およびドイツの言語研究者と共同で意味の同定のための文法の体系の構築を目指し，以下のような研究を行った。
・トーマス・フリッツ教授（アイヒシュテット大学），成田節東京外大名誉教授，小川暁夫関西学院大学教授および慶應義塾大学大学院所属の院生数名と本研究テーマについての研究集会を2023年8月に近畿大学にて行った。
・本研究の関連の発表を国際研究集会である第49回日本独文学会語学ゼミナールにて行った。その際，研究代表者の田中の他，研究協力者として参加した横田詩織氏（本塾博士後期課程）および出島恒太郎氏（学習院大学博士後期課程）などが関連発表を行った。
・本研究をより本格的な国際共同研究に発展させるために，24年度から3年間にわたる科研費での計画研究（基盤研究Ｂ）を申請した。この申請は残念ながら不採択に終った。
・国際共同研究をさらに発展，拡充させるために，上記フリッツ教授の他，ゾーニャ・ツェーマン教授（アウクスブルク大学）やパトリック・キューネル博士（北京大学，ミュンヘン国際大学）らも含めた共同研究に着手した。
・本研究の成果の発表の一つとして，上記横田氏，出島氏らとともに2024年6月に実施される日本独文学会春季研究発表会でシンポジウムを開催する。
The indeterminacy of language, that is, "the meaning expressed by a linguistic form is not sufficiently definite," is widely confirmed in linguistic phenomena, from the word level to grammatical categories. The sender of a language uses indeterminate forms in its transmission, and the receiver interprets these indeterminate linguistic forms by some means. There are various factors that lead to the concrete interpretation of linguistic symbols, one of which is the semantic syntactic structure of language. This is the claim that grammatical structure is the decisive factor in determining meaning, rather than a vague understanding of context. In this study, the target language was German, and the following studies were conducted in collaboration with Japanese and German linguists, aiming to construct a system of grammar for the identification of meaning.
- In August 2023, I held a meeting at Kinki University with Professor Thomas Fritz (University Eichstätt), Professor Emeritus Takashi Narita (Tokyo University of Foreign Studies), Professor Akio Ogawa (Kwansei Gakuin University), and several graduate students at Keio University.
- The presentation related to this research was given at the 49th Japan Society of German Literature (JSDL) Seminar on Language Studies, an international research gathering. In addition to the principal investigator, research collaborators including Shiori Yokota (doctoral course at Keio University) and Kotaro Dejima (doctoral course at Gakushuin University) made presentations on this research.
- In order to develop this research into a full-fledged international collaborative study, we applied for a three-year Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI) project (Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research). Unfortunately, this application was not accepted.
- In order to further develop and expand the international joint research, we have started a joint research including Prof. Sonja Zeman (University of Augsburg) and Dr. Patrick Kuehnel (Peking University and International University of Munich), in addition to Prof. Fritz above.
- As one of the presentations of the results of this research, a symposium will be held at the spring meeting of the Japan Society of German Literature in June 2024, together with the above-mentioned Yokota, Dejima, and others.
