中世の連歌の句集について、南北朝時代成立の連歌撰集である菟玖波集を主たる対象として研究した。菟玖波集は前句と付句の組み合わせ、2146句を収める、20巻からなる撰集で、二条良基の編纂にかかる。浅井美峰を共著者として、2023年10月に、巻11までの注釈書を刊行することができた。三弥井書店の『菟玖波集　上』である。
そこではまず、古態を留める優れた本文を探究して、翻刻した。底本は大分県立歴史博物館に寄託された急雨亭文庫本で、渡辺綱峰（里村玄碩。1762-1821）の筆にかかる。これは書写は後世のものであるが、菟玖波集の原本とされる素眼筆本の本文を伝える、貴重な写本である。これを底本とした活字本は初めてであり、学術的な意義がある。急雨亭文庫本の不審は、他の写本によって校訂した。
ついで、その本文をもとに注釈を進めた。前句に対する付句の注釈であるので、語釈や句意だけではなく、寄合語、本歌本説などの付合について詳しく解説した。注釈は頭注形式とし、版面のレイアウトに工夫を凝らした。頭注で尽くせない情報は、補注で詳しく述べた。
こうして、福井久蔵（1867-1951）が『校本菟玖波集新釈』を刊行して以来、約90年ぶりの全注釈となった。
関連して、菟玖波集は連歌集ではあるが、延文２年（1357）、後光厳天皇の綸旨によって勅撰和歌集に准じられた。そのことが連歌の地位向上に与えた影響は大きいので、中世の勅撰和歌集の成立と評価についての研究を進めた。そのほかに、南北朝時代の連歌に深く関係する今川了俊とその周辺について調査を進め、論文を刊行し、口頭発表を行った。
I researched collections of medieval renga, focusing mainly on the Tsukuba Shu（菟玖波集）, an anthology edited in the Nanbokucho period. The Tsukuba-Shu contains 2,146 combinations of pre-renga and appendix. It consists of 20 volumes. It was compiled by Nijo Yoshiki (1320-88), Kanpaku of the Northern Court（北朝）,with the cooperation of renga artists including Kyusai（救済）. In October 2023, we were able to publish the commentaries up to Volume 11. This is ``Tsukuba-Shu Volume 1''.
First, we searched for excellent texts that retained their original appearance and transcribed them. The original copy is a Kyutei personal library（急雨亭文庫） at the Oita Prefectural Museum of History, written by Tsunamine Watanabe (渡辺綱峰=里村玄碩、1762-1821). Although this was copied in the early modern period, it is a valuable manuscript that conveys the text of the Sogan manuscript（素眼筆本）, which is said to be the original of the Tsukuba collection. This is the first printed book based on this book, and it has academic significance.
I then proceeded with annotations based on this. Since I have explained the haiku attached to the pre-haiku, I have explained in detail not only the interpretation and meaning of the phrase, but also the attachment of yoriaigo（寄合語）, honka（本歌）, etc. The annotations are in the form of headnotes, and the layout of the printing plate has been devised. Information that cannot be covered in the headnotes is explained in detail in supplementary notes.
In this way, it was the first complete commentary in approximately 90 years since Kyuzo Fukui (福井久蔵、1867-1951) published.
Relatedly, the Tsukuba-shu is a renga collection, but in 1357, it was designated as an imperial collection of waka by Emperor Gokogont（後光厳天皇）'s order. Since this had a great influence on improving the status of renga, I conducted research on the establishment and evaluation of imperial selected waka collections in the medieval period. In addition, I conducted research on Ryoshun Imagawa（今川了俊） and his surroundings, who are closely related to the renga of the Nanbokucho period, published papers, and gave oral presentations.
