Purpose
The appeal of the Hiyoshi campus is the wonderful living environment where academics and nature coexist. Therefore, I believe that the strategy to support conditions that allow students and faculty to come together happily while learning and working lies in designing an environment that promotes awareness of health on campus. In recent years, there is evidence to estimate health risks based on walking ability. There is rapid development of DX. In view of these, the purpose of this research is to develop interfaces and amenities with the theme of creating a smart campus that supports the improvement of the health of faculty and students by pursuing the possibility of gait observation on campus.
Achievement
Result 1, I rented a plantar pressure meter (Foot View SAM, manufactured by Nitta) and revealed the plantar function in a standing posture. The analysis function implemented in the equipment can determine whether an arch has collapsed based on pressure distribution and load balance. With this function, it was possible to classify foot shapes as flat, floating, or none, as well as natural, high arch, flat, valgus, and splayed feet. Result 2 is the realization of walking posture detection using skeletal estimation technology. In addition, I pursued a method for observing gait using drone footage. Skeletal estimation and detection is a technology that converts body joint points from captured images into digital coordinates. The open source used was MMPose. Previous gait analysis required a large number of steps to calculate numerical values using a monocular measurement method in which the mouse clicked the position of the heel or toe of the body part on the screen. The improved method for skeletal estimation reduces analysis effort and improves the efficiency (evolution) of gait evaluation. In addition, the use of drones that can track subjects to photograph walking poses alleviates the concerns of fixed-point cameras, such as limited viewing angles and image deformation (distortion) caused by wide-angle photography, making highly accurate analysis possible. Result 3 was successful sampling of plantar pressure and gait data from approximately 50 people. Statistical verification linking foot print classification and skeletal estimation will be a small start for POC and POV in the design of material detection and analysis systems necessary for observing gait and examining walking ability.
I propose that an attitude that combines walking behavior and recognition of walking ability will lead to the initiative to actively question the quality of walking, and will strengthen the problem identification and motivation necessary for public health, health SDGs, and health literacy on campus.
