16、17世紀の東アジアにおけるイエズス会布教について研究することを試みた。具体的には、前近代のインド、日本、中国におけるイエズス会の布教を倫理の問題を基軸にして検討した。良心問題は、基礎神学である倫理神学とは異なり、社会における具体的事例から形成されるものである。良心問題は、悔悛の秘蹟において司祭が悔悛者にゆるしを与えるために習得することが必要なことである。社会においていかなる行為がゆるされ、いかなる行為が禁止されるのか、それを議論したのが良心問題決疑論である。15世紀、ヨーロッパにおいては、聴罪司祭が悔悛の秘蹟において使用するマニュアルが作成され、16世紀には決定版とも言える、マルティン・デ・アスピルクエタのマニュアル（手引書）が広く流布した。本研究の成果として、浅見雅一『キリシタン時代の良心問題ーインド・日本・中国の「倫理」の足跡』（慶應義塾大学出版会、2022年11月）を出版した。本書は、東アジア地域におけるイエズス会の良心問題決疑論を取り上げ、それが地域によってどのように変遷していったのかをたどった。また、良心問題のマニュアルについても考察した。インドにおいて、イエズス会はヨーロッパの基準を適用していったが、日本においてはその基準を必ずしも適用しない、またはできなかった。そのため、日本向けの良心問題決疑論の基準を作成することが必要となったのである。こうしたイエズス会の方針が適応主義と呼ばれる。それがフランシスコ会などのスペイン系托鉢修道会の反発を受けることとなった。さらに、中国においては良心問題決疑論は日本ほどには発達しなかった。中国布教が本格的に展開していく明末清初以降は、良心問題決疑論がヨーロッパにおいては衰退していくことになり、日本において使用されたマニュアルが使われることが少なくなった。そのため、中国語（漢語）によるマニュアルが作成されなかったと考えられる。
In this research I treated the Jesuit missions in East Asia in the 16th and 17th centuries. Specifically, I tried to examine Jesuit missionaries in pre-modern India, Japan, and China, focusing on ethical issues. Unlike ethical theology, which is the basic theology, the cases of conscience are formed from concrete examples in the society. The priests need to learn the cases of conscience for the priests to learn in the Sacrament of Penitence to grant forgiveness to penitents. The cases of conscience are debated about what kind of actions are permissible and what kinds of actions are prohibited in the society. In the 15th century in Europe, the manuals were written for use of confessors in the Sacrament of Penitence, and in the 16th century, the definitive manual written by Dr. Martín de Azpilcueta was widely prevailed. As a result of this research, I published "The Cases of Conscience in the Christian Era: Tracing "Ethics" in India, Japan, and China" (Keio University Press, November 2022). This book takes up the Jesuits' cases of conscience questioning theory in the East Asian region and traces how it has changed depending on the region. We also considered manuals on the cases of conscience. In India, the Jesuits applied European standards, but in Japan they did not or could not always apply them. Therefore, it became necessary to create a standard for the cases of conscience questioning theories for Japan. This Jesuit policy is sometimes called "adaptationism". This led to opposition from Spanish mendicant orders such as the Order of Friars Minor. Furthermore, in China, the cases of conscience questioning theories did not develop as much as in Japan. After the Late Ming and Early Qing, when the missionary works in China began in earnest, the theory of questioning the cases of conscience declined even in Europe, and the manuals used in Japan became less popular. That's why it is considered that the manual in Chinese Characters was not written.
