本研究の目的は、リアル及び遠隔会場でのライブ音楽演奏におけるアーティストと鑑賞者の心の動きの時間的同調性を解明することであった。本研究は３年計画であり、１年目は、日吉キャンパス藤原洋記念ホール（リアル会場）および湘南藤沢キャンパスシータ館（遠隔会場）にて、プロシンガーソングライターによるアコースティック弾き語りライヴ演奏実験を行い、ライヴ中のアーティストと鑑賞者の心拍データ、及び、鑑賞者の主観的感動度を記録した。2年目となる本年度は、これら1年目に得られた成果を発展させ、下記３つの研究成果を得た。第１の研究成果として、ライヴ中のリアル/遠隔会場それぞれの鑑賞者の心拍データの時間的同調性を解析し、遠隔会場・リアル会場共に鑑賞者同士の心拍同期が有意に高いものの、鑑賞者の心拍同調性の程度は遠隔会場に比べてリアル会場でより高い程度であることを明らかにした。本成果は、2022年8月に米国オレゴンにて開催された北米音楽認知学会(Society for Music Perception and Cognition: SMPC)にて口頭発表された。第２の研究成果として、アーティストの心拍データと、鑑賞者の心拍データ及び主観的感動度の時間的同調性を解析し、アーティストと観客の心拍の時間的同調性は有意でない一方で、アーティストの心拍と観客の主観的感動度には高い同調性がみられることを明らかにし、得られた成果を国際音楽認知学会(International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition: ICMPC)に演題登録した。査読の結果、口頭発表として受理され、2023年8月に発表予定である。第３の研究成果として、これまでに得られた結果がライヴ環境ならではのものであるか検証するために、録画された動画を鑑賞者が個別に視聴している際の心拍データを記録する追加実験を実施した。来年度、これまでに得られた成果をまとめ、学術論文出版を目指して研究を推進する計画である。
The purpose of this study was to clarify the temporal synchronization between the artist's and the audience's emotional responses to live music performances in real and remote venues. In the first year of the three-year project, we conducted a live music experiment in which a professional singer-songwriter performed at the Hiroshi Fujiwara Memorial Hall on the Hiyoshi Campus (real venue) and broadcasted the performance at the Theta Building on the Shonan Fujisawa Campus (remote venue). We recorded the heart rate data of the artist and the audience during the live performance, as well as the audience's subjective emotional ratings. In the second year of the project, we expanded on the results of the first year and obtained the following results. First, we analyzed the temporal synchronization of heart rate data of audiences at both real and remote venues during the live performance and found that although the degree of heart rate synchronization among the audiences was significantly high at both venues, the degree was higher at the real venue than at the remote venue. These results were presented orally at the Society for Music Perception and Cognition (SMPC) in Oregon, USA, in August 2022. Second, we analyzed the correlations of the artist's heart rate data with the audience's heart rate data and the audience's subjective emotional ratings and found that the temporal synchrony between the heart rate of the artist and the audience was not significant. On the other hand, there was a high synchrony between the artist's heart rate and the audience's subjective emotional ratings. We submitted these results to the International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition (ICMPC), and as a result of peer review, it was accepted as an oral presentation. Third, we conducted an additional experiment to test if the results obtained so far are unique to the live performance setting. To test this, we recorded the heart rate data of each participant while they were watching the recorded video individually. In the next third year, we plan to submit and publish a peer-reviewed journal paper on this project.
