ヴァイマル期ハンブルクにおける教育文化の展開を、これまでの文化史研究、教育史研究とは異なる手法で描くことで、人文学とその教育の新しい展開が、カッシーラーの文化哲学やヴァールブルクの文化科学、リヒトヴァルク校の文化科という教科に顕在化しつつあったことを明らかにした。具体的には、新設高等教育機関としてのハンブルク大学の諸研究所、新設中等教育機関としてのリヒトヴァルク校、図像学の拠点としてのヴァールブルク文化科学図書館の関連を明らかにした。
自然科学・科学技術の急速な発展や民主主義の危機という状況下、現代においても人文学や人文学に基づく教育の新たな展開が模索されているが、人文学・人文学教育が今後進むべき方向を考えた時、このヴァイマル期のハンブルクで展開された文化科学的方向性は実に示唆に富むものだと思われる。
By depicting the development of educational culture in Weimar Hamburg in a way that differs from previous cultural and educational history research, it is clear that new developments in the humanities and their education were becoming manifest in the cultural philosophy of Cassirer, the cultural sciences of Warburg and the subject of cultural studies at the Lichtwark School. The study also revealed the following. Specifically, the study clarified the relationship between the various institutes of the University of Hamburg as newly established higher education institutions, the Lichtwark School as a newly established secondary school and the Warburg Library of Cultural Sciences as a centre of iconography.
In the context of the rapid development of natural science and technology and the crisis of democracy, new developments in the humanities and humanities-based education are being sought in the present day. The direction of cultural science developed in Hamburg during the Weimar period is thought to be very illuminating.
