コロナ禍のために予定していた徳島県神山町での長期滞在ができなかったため、京都府宇治市の歴史的街区である中宇治地区、および栃木県益子町南部の農村地域である生田目地区を対象に、本研究のテーマである生活景観の記述と評価、共有の手法を実践的に研究した。宇治では東京大学都市デザイン研究室と協働し、街区内を歩くことによって街区内に散在する小さな空地をネットワーク化して庭と見なすための地図を制作した。益子町では、東洋大学建築学科の伊藤研究室と協働し、地元住民参加による丘陵地のハイキングトレイルを散歩しながら、歩く行為を通して益子町の丘陵や農地、農村の風景を再発見する地図のデザインを探った。参加者に散歩中の行為と気持ちを記録してもらうカードを作成し、それを集めてハイキングトレイルに歩く人の心象を表現した地図を作り、坂道や眺望点に新しい地名をつけるというワークショップを行った。これらの実践の過程で、地域の景観を発見する媒体としての散歩コースを地図に描く手法を提示することができた。
Because the Corona disaster prevented an extended stay in Kamiyama-cho, Tokushima Prefecture, as planned, we conducted a practical study of methods for describing, evaluating, and sharing living landscapes, the theme of this research, in the Naka-Uji area, a historical town district in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, and the Ikutame area, a rural community in southern Mashiko Town, Tochigi Prefecture. In Uji, we collaborated with the Urban Design Laboratory of the University of Tokyo to produce a map of the small vacant lots scattered throughout the district that could be networked and regarded as gardens by walking through the district. In Mashiko Town, we collaborated with the Ito Laboratory of the Department of Architecture at Toyo University to explore the design of a map to rediscover the hills, farmlands, and rural landscape of Mashiko Town through the act of walking on a hiking trail in the hilly area with the participation of local residents. A workshop was held in which participants were asked to create cards to record their actions and feelings during the walk, which were collected to create a map expressing the mental images of people walking on the hiking trail, and to give new place names to hills and viewpoints. In the process of these practices, we were able to present a method for mapping walking trails as a medium for discovering the local landscape.
