2019年度は２回の研究集会を行い、研究発表と意見交換の場を持つことができた。研究集会には毎回、外部からの研究協力者も招き、中動態という謎の多いコンセプトについて各自のアプローチを比較検討した。７月25日の研究集会では研究代表者が「言語学における中動態研究の歴史」を発表し、その後、６名の研究分担者・協力者がそれぞれの問題意識のミニ発表を行った。９月12日の研究集会では、７名が研究発表を行い、意見交換を行った。研究集会で意見交換を行うなかで、それぞれの参加者が「中動態」概念のどこに惹かれ、またどこに問題を感じているのかを検討できたと思う。９月から12月にかけては、メールのやりとりをしながら、「中動態研究」に欠かせない必須文献のリストの作成を行った。
2019年度の終わり、３月19日には中規模のシンポジウムを予定しており、そこでは東京大学の郷原佳以氏をコメンテーターとしてお招きして、それぞれが研究発表をすることになっていた。案内の作成や発表論文の準備、アルバイト学生の手配などを進めていたが、新型コロナウイルスの影響でこのシンポジウムは中止せざるを得なかった。このシンポジウムでの発表するはずだった論文を元に、2020年度は研究論文集の出版も予定している。
In 2019, we held two workshops, in which we were able to present our recent studies and exchange views on the Middle Voice. We invited external research collaborators for each workshop and compared each other's approaches on this mysterious concept. At the workshop on July 25, the principal investigator presented "History of the Study on Middle Voice in Linguistics", followed by six researchers and collaborators who delivered a mini-presentation on their understandings of the issue. At the September 12th workshop, seven people gave presentations and exchanged opinions. During this session, I believe each participant was able to acknowledge each other's interests and issues on the concept of "middle diathesis". Through the email exchange in the course of September to December, we had established a list of referential documents that were essential for the "Middle Voice Study".
On March 19, at the end of FY 2019, a mid-scale symposium was scheduled to be held in which Kai Gohara of the University of Tokyo was invited as a commentator. For this event, each member was preparing presentation papers, while the organizers were arranging the part-time student workers, flyers, etc. however, this symposium was forced to be postponed due to the novel coronavirus. Based on the papers that were supposed to be presented at this symposium, we are planning on publishing a collection of papers in 2020.
