「現代ドイツ文学における歴史叙述の系譜」をめぐる研究（3年計画）の1年目は、現地調査および歴史叙述関連の文献調査やその精読に時間を費やした。まずドイツでの現地調査では、「ドイツ11月革命」100周年を記念する展示や関連行事を視察し、時代や政治体制によって異なる「ドイツ11月革命」の評価を体系的に見直すことができた。また、歴史叙述や歴史的メタフィクション関連の文献を読み込み、世界大戦やホロコーストを生み出したモダニズムに抗う「ドイツ文学モデルネ」の亡命作家たちが、それらを乗り越えるために過去の歴史を志向し、ポストモダンが先鋭化する「物語」や歴史表象をめぐる問題をすでに意識していたことが確認できた。これらの研究成果は、学会口頭発表、紀要論文として発表された。上智大学ドイツ文学会では、A・デーブリーンの歴史小説『November 1918―あるドイツの革命』（全４巻、以下『1918』）の第１巻『市民と兵士たち1918』を取り上げ、第一次大戦時の作者の従軍経験が、ユダヤ人亡命者という立場からどのように言語化されるのかを作者の伝記的な要素を踏まえて考察し、「歴史小説」というジャンルを、作者自身が置かれた「今・現在」の歴史的社会的状況を投影する慰めと抵抗の文学として捉え直した。紀要論文は、デーブリーンの歴史小説論や歴史小説をポストモダニズムの文脈に位置づける試みとなった。デーブリーンの歴史小説論をハッチオンやホワイトの歴史表象論や物語論と絡めて読み直し、「全体化」された歴史を骨抜きにする『1918』がその実践であることを明らかにした。デーブリーンをポストモダニズムの文脈に置くことにより、戦後ドイツ文学における歴史叙述の系譜を辿るための土台ができたといえる。ドイツでの現地視察は『1918』の翻訳プロジェクト（共訳）の助けにもなった。不明な点がクリアになり、2019年4月頭に第１巻『市民と兵士たち1918』の翻訳初稿を出版社に提出することができた。
In the first year of the three-year research project titled 'The historiographical narrative in German Contemporary Literature', two tasks were undertaken. One involved the study of the events that occurred in the German cities—with a special focus on the 100th anniversary of the 'German November Revolution'. The other involved an intensive reading of secondary literature related to historiographical narratives. Through research on anniversary events in Germany, the differences in the evaluations of the 'German November Revolution', which differ according to changes in the German political system, could be overviewed. In addition, through a detailed reading of historiographical narrative theories and historical meta-fiction theories in relation to Modernism and Postmodernism, it was found that the exiled authors of 'German Literary Modernism' were drawn to history, and they worked on historiographical novels as an act of resistance in order to overcome Modernism, which had led to historic catastrophes, such as revolutions, the World Wars, and the Holocaust. Furthermore, it was found that these German authors in exile, especially authors such as Alfred Döblin, had already shared a common interest not only in the representation of the past but also in the deconstruction of the 'totalising' narrative, which Postmodernism dealt with. Furthermore, my analysis of Döblin's theory and practice with regard to the historiographical narrative, while referring to Hutcheon's writings on the representation of the past, makes it clear that his writings can be read in the context of Postmodernism. The achievements of my research, which was conducted in 2018, were presented as a lecture, an essay, and a report. In the next research year, on the basis of the studies conducted in the first year, the historiographical narrative in Post-War Germany will be analysed.
