Karl Heinrich Waggerlが戦後に発表した小説と, そのもとになった戦時中のテクストの比較研究を実施した。後者のプロパガンダ作品である"Pfingstidyll an der Reichsautobahn"の背景にはアウトバーンに関するナチス・ドイツの思想があり, 戦中のWaggerlはそれに基づきアウトバーンをオーストリアと一体となった「祖国」ドイツの風景の一部として描いている。その戦後の改訂となる"Die Pfingstreise"では, 同じ旅行が「異郷」の旅と, ごく小さな「故郷」への帰還として読み替えられており, それは戦後オーストリアのドイツからの断絶と「無害な小国」というイメージ形成にも繋がっている。この研究について2017年9月, 日本独文学会秋季研究発表会にて「「故郷」を結ぶアウトバーンの旅―K. H. ヴァッガール『帝国アウトバーンの聖霊降臨節の牧歌』と戦後の改作をめぐって」と題し口頭発表を行った。またそれに加筆修正した論文"Vom Pfingstidyll zur Pfingstreise. Die Veränderung der Idee der 'Heimat' während des und nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg(s) am Beispiel von Karl Heinrich Waggerl"を「オーストリア文学」第34号に投稿, 査読を完了しており2018年春に刊行予定である。
さらに, Waggerlが戦後好んで用いたクリスマスのモティーフに関する研究を行った。彼の郷土文学の前身というべきPeter Roseggerのクリスマス小説には, 毎年回帰する慣習への参入あるいは創出が描かれている。Waggerlの戦後のクリスマス作品においてはそのような回帰する慣習が現在の過去との接続, そして直近の不都合な過去の曖昧化として表れており, 戦後オーストリアが「ナチスの犠牲者」としての自己演出に, クリスマスの慣習を利用してきたのが実態である。この研究について2018年3月, 第70回ドイツ現代文学ゼミナールにて「K. H. ヴァッガールにおける降誕節モティーフの系譜と戦後における意義について」と題して研究発表を行った。
In this project, I compared the story Karl Heinrich Waggerls "Die Pfingstreise" to the text "Pfingstidyll an der Reichsautobahn", which was written during the Second World War. Behind the propaganda-Work "Pfingstidyll" is the Nazi ideology related to the Autobahn, and Waggerl describes it as a part of the landscape of the Fatherland, of Germany, which is now united with Austria. In the "Pfingstreise", which is a revised version of the "Pfingstidyll", the same trip is interpreted as a journey into the strange land and the return home. This also refers to the design of Austria's conception after the war as "a harmless small state". The results of the project were first presented orally in September 2017 at the conference of the Japanese Society of Germanic Studies and will be published in the spring of 2018 in the journal "Austrian Literature" no. 34 (Tokyo) under the title "Vom Pfingstidyll zur Pfingstreise. Die Veränderung der Idee der „Heimat" während des und nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg(s) am Beispiel von Karl Heinrich Waggerl".
Furthermore, analysed was the motive Christmas, which dealt with Waggerl after 1945. His predecessor, Peter Rosegger, describes in his Christmas novels the acceptance into or the taking up of the tradition that comes back every year. In Waggerl's texts after the war on Christmas, this returning tradition appears as the conjunction of the present with the past, concealing the unfavorable past of the National Socialism. Austria itself benefited after the war of the Christmas tradition in its self-presentation as the victim of National Socialism. This research was presented during the seminar of modern German literature in March 2018 under the title "The history and the meaning of Christmas motives in Karl Heinrich Waggerl's texts after the Second World War".
