中世末期の14世紀以降, エックハルトを中心とするドイツ神秘主義思想は, フランドル地方, 北方ドイツを中心として大きな影響力を及ぼした。そういった神秘主義は, 都市における手工業職人を中心とする新興市民に受容され, 16世紀の宗教改革につながる潮流を育てていった。そこでの思想的特徴は, 神との神秘的一体化を目指すという瞑想中心の非活動的なものとして捉えられがちだが, 実際には, ローマカトリック教会の管理宗教の桎梏を脱し, 自分たちで聖書を読み, 神と内面において一体化し, 同時に日常生活においては勤労に励むという, 外面においては活動的な信仰形態であった。13世紀以降, 技術, 商業, 工業, 貿易, 金融などの面において, 様々な革新が生じ, 近代につながる胎動が開始するが, 13世紀以降の神学思想は, 営利活動の肯定, 世俗的活動への専心, 自由の強調, 個人の重視など, 近代の思想の起源となる発想を様々に生み出している。フランシスコ会の清貧思想が勤勉に結びつくパラドックスを抱えていたように, 神秘主義もまた, 内面への沈潜ばかりでなく, 積極的な活動を推し進めるというパラドックスを抱えていた。今年度は, 3冊の単著, 1冊の編著などを発表した。直接関連するのは, 編著である『光の形而上学』(慶應義塾大学出版会)。言語文化研究所における山内が代表となったプロジェクトの研究成果を論文集としてまとめたものである。他にも『湯殿山の哲学』(ぷねうま舎), 『目的なき人生を生きる』(角川新書)などを刊行したが, 中世の神秘主義の系譜をたどり, 現代や日本の思想との比較を試みたものである。
In this research, I tried to make clear the impact of the mysticism which originated from medieval German theologian, Meister Eckhart. His mysticism had a considerable influence on modern philosophy as well as Martin Luther's theological thought. Mysiticism in medieval period was never meditative and inactive, but industrious and energetic. Medieval followers of Eckhart were almost beguines and beghards (Free Spiriti Heresy in early fourteenth century) . They were the common people and eager to find the new moral which supported profit-making activities. Late-medieval nominalism represented , in some respect, this new tendenciy. Mysticism, had much to do with this ethos. In this year, I published three books, which are closely related with aforementioned topics, and made clear these themes.
